Disable Vista’s Aero for just one program [Hack Your Day]

settings for turning off aeroIf you love the way your Vista looks, but need that extra oomph sometimes to make things go, then disabling the bells and whistles for some specific programs may be a good idea. If you need some power for Photoshop, video editing or a game, you can set up the application, so that when it is launched, Aero is turned off, when it is closed Aero switches back on again.

All you need to do is right click on the start file or shortcut, click on properties and go to the compatibility tab. You will see “Disable desktop composition” if you take a look under the settings tab. If you have this checked, Aero will switch off when the program is run.
