Organized Pantry Helps Meet “Healthy Eating” Resolution [Productivity @ Home]

Every Tuesday, I share my thoughts on Family Life

For many of us, "healthy eating" tops the list of New Year’s resolutions.  Whether it’s losing ten pounds or providing nutritious meals for our families, one of the keys to making this dream a reality is organization.  Planning meals in advance, educating ourselves and our kids about healthy choices, and having fresh ingredients on hand are all necessary for success.

Real Simple offers a great tip today that will also be a big help:  The Organized Pantry.  Professional organizers came to the rescue of Sandy, a Broadway star with an out of control pantry.  Using a five step plan, the pantry was transformed into a workable space.  The five steps used were: sort it, prioritize it, contain it, stand it up, light it up.  This formula would work well for any small or large organization process.

I love the idea of tackling a pantry rather than an entire kitchen.  By breaking larger projects into tasks that can be accomplished within one day, we can overcome the mindset that the job is simply hopeless.  This weekend, I will be emulating  The Organized Pantry by diving into my own unwieldy pantry and taking a day to get it under control.  Care to join me?
