New Zen Habits Redesign! Tell Me What You Think [zen habits]
I’m excited to announce the redesign of Zen Habits! I think it’s a lovely design by Collis Ta’eed of FreelanceSwitch, a good man whom I consider a friend and one of the best designers I know.
Thank you Collis!
I asked Collis to keep the design simple, as I am not a fan of clutter. I think he did a great job.
Besides a new simplified look, you’ll notice some changes:
- Sidebar is now on the right. We did that to give the content the priority, rather than the ads in the sidebar. The sidebar is also less cluttered than before, which I love.
- Navigation links at the bottom. I thought I’d make it a little easier for new readers to access some of the best content on this site with the bottom navigation panel. I used your responses in the reader poll of a few weeks ago to hand-pick the best posts in each of the five main categories.
- Gravatars in the comments. These were added to give a more community feel to the comments … basically, it’s just a little photo or picture next to each comment. At first, there will be a lot of default icons, but you can go to Gravatar.com to sign up for a free account (you just give them your email, not anything personal) and add a simple photo. You don’t have to sign up for a Gravatar in order to leave a comment, but I thought it’s a nice feature.
So, there might be a few things that need to be fixed … I’m putting the new design up as a test run, but I’d appreciate your patience. You can report any bugs that need to be fixed, in the comments below.
I’d also appreciate your feedback on the design!
