Stephenotes: The Simple Pleasures of Life [HD BizBlog 1.2]

Write it down or it won’t happen! All so often we get caught up in the chaos and dynamics of our day-to-day lives, forgetting that it is healthy for our minds and bodies to “stop and smell the roses”. Maintaining high levels of productivity and GTD-edness takes energy and determination. From time to time I like to escape from the pressures of life into a good science-fiction novel (or a bad one!), or go on a picnic with my wife - and not take the cell phones.

I came across this list of simple pleasures that take only a minimal amount of planning, can be completely free, and are things that I would enjoy doing.

I trust that you will enjoy them as well:

  • Get up early enough to enjoy the wonder of a sunrise in leisure.
  • Find a bench at the nearest park. Enjoy an entire thermos of coffee without interruption.
  • Notice the intricate beauty of spiderwebs, pinecones, or icicles.
  • Sit on the porch, lean back, and watch the clouds resape themselves until something identifiable emerges.
  • Meet a friend for a relaxed after-dinner conversation.
  • Spend 15 minutes simply concentrating on the sounds you hear outside in your own backyard.
  • Look at and smell every vegetable and piece of fruit you pick up before you put it in your shopping basket.
  • Count the shades of green (or red, or blue) you can see from your office window.
