Next Actions re-loaded - perfect for weekly review [Getting Things Done Blog - Nozbe]

Tomorrow I’ll be posting the 3rd step of the "Simply Get Things Done Course" and it will be about "Next Actions" so before writing about it I decided to bring several enhancements to Nozbe’s Next Actions feature.

Filter your Next Actions - be focused on what’s next.

When you click on your "Next Actions" you’ll see a new link next to the Next Actions description "You can filter this list (advanced)" - just click on it and you’ll have two options:

1) Show only 1 unfinished action per project

If you have a long list of Next Actions (especially at the beginning of the week, after the weekly review) you can now filter your Next Actions list to have it all down to just one single action from each project you put into Next Actions.

This way you’ll have a possibility to see what’s next without facing a long to-do list and choose a project you want to work on and start with this project’s Next Action.

2) Filter by Project or Context

If you have marked several Next Actions from a project or want to focus on processing all of your Next Actions in a single context, you can do it now. This is a real time saver.

Just choose a Context or Project from the list and your Next Actions will be filtered.

This feature is really fantastic to keep you focused - just imagine - you feel like calling - you filter your Next Actions by the context "Phone" to just list all of your urgent phone calls to make and you can process them one by one now.

One more thing - un-starring Next Actions just got easier.

Often requested feature was to also add stars to Next Actions list because sometimes you want some actions to remove from your Next Actions list and before you had to go to the action’s project or context to do it.

Now all you have to do is to click on the star and answer OK to the question that pops up. Neat, huh? The question pops up only if you’re in your Next Actions list to make sure your really want to remove your action from this list (the action will still remain in its project, so no worries about it.)

Tomorrow Step 3 is coming - we’ll talk more about Next Actions

Tomorrow I’ll talk a little more about Next Actions, how I use them and what David Allen says about the Next Actions concept he invented. Stay tunned and have a great Sunday evening and I encourage you to do your weekly review tonight and put your Next Actions for the week in place.
