The Secret of More Energy [Tech Rest]

I’m at work and I just finished a nap! It’s okay, I was on my lunch
break. This 20 minute nap left me refreshed and ready to go. So how did
I do it?
The secret is pzizz
. This is a great piece of software that I heard about from Leo Laporte. It lets you create mp3 files for the length of nap you want. At the end of the time you set it gently (or loudly if you don’t get up) wakes you up.
It works. I first tried pzizz while
riding in the car after I had driven through Atlanta. This was the end
of a 6 hour diving stretch for me and I was stressed. I turned on my Nano (Apple 8 GB iPod nano AAC/MP3 Player Black (2nd Generation)), plugged in my ear buds (Sony MDR-EX71 Fontopia Bud-Style Headphones
), and drifted off to sleep. If I can fall asleep after driving through Atlanta, I can fall asleep anytime.
It’s easy to customize.
You pick the length of nap you want (the default is 20 minutes). Then
you can adjust the volume of the speaking and the music. The
combination of hints to relax and scientifically chosen music and
sounds really relaxes you and allows you to drift off.
It works with iTunes.
After you make your choices about a nap, you “create” it. As part of
this process you can tell it that you would like to add it to a
particular iTunes playlist. What I did was
create 10, 15, and 20 minute naps and added them to a playlist called
pzizz. My work was done.
If you think you would benefit from a refreshing nap, try pzizz. It’s a great weapon in you rest arsenal.
P.S. It’s 2:30 in the afternoon and I’m still feeling great. Usually this is the time of day when my energy is lowest.
